Charles Eugene Hilliard Marion - Charles Eugene Hilliard, 72, of Marion passed away at 3:55 PM, Monday, October 25, 2010 at Herrin Hospital. Visitation will be held Friday, October 29, 2010 from 10:00-11:00 AM at Blue Funeral Home in Marion, IL. Funeral services will commence directly following at 11:00 AM with family and friends officiating. Donations may be made to the American Legion Baseball Team; envelopes are available at the funeral home or may be sent c/o Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion, IL, 62959. Charles was born January 9, 1938 in Marion to Fred & Ruby Hilliard. He married Carolyn Duckworth on December 28, 1987. She survives. Survivors include his wife; daughter, Andi Woods of Marion; two sons, Bruce & Christy Boggess of Carterville and Brit & Sherry Tanner of Evansville; grandchildren, Sarah & Ora Miller, Lexi Winters, Brittni Boggess and Toni Boggess, Amanda & Rod Sills, Christopher Tanner, Joseph Costogna and Dakota Wright; nephew, Scott Hilliard and niece, Leslie Phillips. Charles was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jerald (Dubber) Hilliard and daughter, Lee Ann Castogna. He was a member of the Marion Elks, Marion Eagles and the American Legion Post 147. During his life, Charles worked as a car salesman, a coal miner for Old Ben #21 and was the former owner of Log Cabin. He enjoyed Shakers softball, bowling, golf and fishing.
