Carolyn Sue Valentine

Carolyn Sue Valentine, 82, of Marion, Illinois, passed away on June 19, 2025. She was born on September 28, 1942, in Dykersburg, Illinois, to the late Perry Killman and Wanda Matheny.

Sue married Tommy (Tree Trimmer) Valentine, and together they raised three children. A devoted homemaker, Sue found her greatest joy in caring for her family. She cherished her children and grandchildren deeply, surrounding them with love and comfort.

She was known for her fondness of word and jigsaw puzzles, which reflected her thoughtful and patient nature. Her skill in the kitchen was equally admired—especially her famous divinity candy, a sweet tradition loved by many.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Tommy; her daughters, Nora Mae Valentine Tolbert and Brenda Valentine; a grandchild, Ashelee Horsley; and great-grandchild Kimberly Poland; brothers Roger Killman, Bob Killman; sisters Margaret Killman Hohimer, Delores Killman Mitchem.

She is survived by her daughter, Betty Valentine; grandchildren Carl Poland, Charles Tolbert, Ashley (Killman) Dietz, James Valentine, Timothy Lindsey, Michelle Gregg, Katie Gibson, and Zack Gibson; and great-grandchildren Ruth Dietz and Mason Dietz.
