Aleda Anna Sophia (née Mueller) Doelitzsch passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 6, 2026, in Marion, IL, surrounded by her loving family.
Aleda was born on January 30, 1925, in Waterloo, Illinois, to Herman and Dora (née Offerman) Mueller. She was one of 8 siblings, 4 of which survive her; Mrs. Lynn Kerr of Buford, GA, Mrs. Evie Heldt of Grand Rapids, MI, Mr. Ermett Mueller of Gainesville, GA, and Mrs. Karen Rabe of Webster Groves, MO. She married Elmer Frank Doelitzsch on May 4, 1946, and together they raised 2 children who survive them: Dennis “Dutch” Doelitzsch married to Joann (née Boyd) and Lori (Doelitzsch) Power married to Dr. John Power, all of Marion. She is grandmother to 4; Dinah (Doelitzsch) Troutner, Deanna (Doelitzsch) Deiters, John Patrick Power, and Matthew Power, and great-grandmother to 7. She was preceded in death by brother Marvin Mueller, sister Verna (née Mueller) Theobald, sister Merdell (née Mueller) Haberl, and husband, Elmer.
She had several careers during her 101+ year lifetime, finally retiring from Williamson County Programs on Aging in 2013 at the age of 88. She was awarded the Governor’s Award for Unique Achievement in 1996 for “contributing to the quality of life for older Illinoisans by exemplifying aging as a lifetime opportunity”. She received Volunteer of the Year honors from many of the organizations she served. Aleda was a founding member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Marion and most recently a faithful member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Marion. She lived her life as a humble servant to her family, her community, and most importantly to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Binkley-Ross Funeral Home in Marion and the funeral service was held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Marion on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, with Pastor Mark Surburg presiding.
Memorial contributions in Aleda’s honor may be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1801 Westminster Drive, Marion, IL 62959.
