Alan “Dale” Edwards, 58, of Marion, was born June 3, 1967, to James William Edwards and Ruth Ann (Payne) Edwards. He cast his final line peacefully, on April 25, 2026, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Indiana, leaving behind a life well-lived and full of stories.
Dale spent his years on the road as an over-the-road truck driver, hauling just about everything you could imagine. When he wasn’t behind the wheel, you could usually find him along the riverbank, fishing pole in hand, waiting on a bite and enjoying the quiet. He loved fishing, motorcycles, gardening, hunting, being outdoors, and taking Sunday drives—no matter what day of the week it was.
He is survived by his daughter: Liz (Travis) Raines and their children Travis Alan and Emma; his daughter Ashley (Terry) Crowell and their children Jaylee, Gauge, and Jaxson, along with great-grandchildren Grayson and Lynix; his daughter Amberly (Ryan) Reeder and their children Ailey, John, and Ryker; his son Christopher (Stephanie) Elam and their children Karli (Taylor), with great-grandchildren Parker and Steeli; and his daughter Amanda Beard and her daughter Jossalyn.
He also leaves behind his beloved lady friend, Vicki O’Neal, whom he loved dearly and treasured his time with; his aunt Verna Lee; and many cousins including Mike Payne and Kevin (Linda) Edwards.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Carol Edwards, who passed on January 8, 2020.
